George Stanton Taylor, 86, found a home in Raleigh and in Wilmington

WILMINGTON — George Stanton “Stan” Taylor, 86, of Raleigh, North Carolina, died Oct. 2, 2016.

Mr. Taylor was born Nov. 30, 1929 in Kinston, North Carolina, to the late George and Millie Taylor.

After serving as sergeant in the 30th Infantry in Fort Benning, Georgia, Mr. Taylor began a career in insurance, eventually starting the Stan Taylor Insurance Agency in Raleigh, where he worked until retirement. He was the 55th member of the Richard Caswell Masonic Lodge No. 705, an avid golfer and had a tender spot in his heart for animals.

Later in life he enjoyed a second home in Landfall, located in Wilmington, North Carolina, where you would often find him on the golf course, on his porch overlooking the Intracoastal, and dining at Jerry’s or Szechuan 132 — always cutting up with friends and telling jokes in good fun. He loved life and the ones he held dear. He will be greatly missed.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Taylor was predeceased by his brother, D.H. Taylor and a nephew, Robert Laws Jr.

Mr. Taylor was survived by his sisters, Mary Alice Taylor Laws and Jane Taylor Turner; nephews, Dr. D.
