WILMINGTON – James Thomas Grady, 56, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away at his residence on Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, after a courageous battle with brain cancer.
He was born on Dec. 30, 1959, to the late Daniel Henry Grady and Luella James Grady.
He was a contributing writer for the Star News in Wilmington, where he covered sports and wrote weekly columns about animal advocacy and youth sports.
He is survived by his wife, Nan Grady; three stepchildren, Whitney Bell and husband, Steve, Matt Lewis and fianceé, Heidi Bass, and Kristin Lewis; his brothers, D. Gary Grady of Durham, North Carolina and Mark Grady of Carolina Beach, North Carolina; a niece, Kayla Grady; and a nephew, Michael Grady and wife, Megan. Also surviving are his six rescued furry companions.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
