Robert Constantine Hanania, 75, local umpire and referee

SUNSET BEACH – Robert Constantine Hanania, 75, of Sunset Beach passed away Sept. 15, 2016, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, on July 2, 1941, to Gabriel Hanania and Matilda Gohson Hanania.

After serving his country in the US Army he graduated college and began a long career as a buyer for Sears Roebuck Company. He played baseball and later served as an umpire and referee for baseball, basketball and football for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy McCaskill Hanania; sons, Bryan G. Hanania (Rachael) of Phoenix, Arizona and David C. Hanania (Penny) of Batavia, Illinois; daughter, Barbara Ellen Herring (Bradley) of Clinton, North Carolina; and five grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at Brunswick Funeral Service. The family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m., prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service. Interment will be in Pine Bluff Cemetery, Pine Bluff, North Carolina.
