CASTLE HAYNE – Linda JoAnn Kornegay, 69, of Castle Hayne, North Carolina, passed away Monday, Sept. 12, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
Born June 16, 1947 in Ridgecrest, California, she is a daughter of the late Jack Douglas Avis and Virginia Forrest Avis.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years and best friend, Linwood W. Kornegay; her children, Robert Wuest, Amy Morgenstern and her husband, Darrell, Joseph Wade Wuest and his wife, Kristen, and Roger Gregory Wuest; her 10 grandchildren; her two great-grandchildren; her sisters, Deana Ostrum and her husband, Cliff, Beverly Strode and her husband, Mike, and Nancy Kelly; and numerous extended family.
She is remembered for her pursuit of excellence and strong work ethic. Second best was never enough for her. Her family was her number one and meant everything to her; she was a loving mother and wife. In her leisure, she enjoyed traveling, whether visiting family or getting away for a break.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 at Wrightsboro United Methodist Church. There will be a time for fellowship and food following the service.
Memorial donations may be made, in Linda’s name, to the American Cancer Society or Lower Cape Fear Hospice.
