WAYNESVILLE – Mildred Bigford Barber, 89 of Waynesville, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Aug. 4, 2016.
She was born April 10, 1927, in Columbus County, N.C., to the late William Edward Bigford and Susie Bollinger Bigford. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Dewey Barber.
She worked as a secretary at Kaiser Aluminum until her retirement. She was a talented craftsperson who loved camping, fishing and her grandchildren.
She is survived by four sons, Dewey Wayne Barber of Townsend, Ga., Alan Gene Barber of Riegelwood, N.C., William Wesley Barber of Acme, N.C., and Barry Lyle Barber of Council, N.C.; two daughters, Judy Justice of Beaufort, S.C., and Glenda Potter of Riegelwood, N.C.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016, at Faith Baptist Church in Delco, N.C. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with Pastor Mike Yarborough officiating. Interment will follow at Faith Baptist Church cemetery.
