Alpha Yvonne Strickland, 73, of Currie, N.C.

CURRIE – Alpha Yvonne Strickland, 73, of Currie, N.C., passed peacefully from her earthly life on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Care Center.

She was born Dec. 22, 1942, in Baltimore, Md., the daughter of the late Alpha Chaney and Daisy Ruth Johnson Morrison.

Yvonne is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Casper Devon Strickland; daughters, Sheila Simpson (Robert) and Tina Auten (Harold); sons, Micheal Strickland (Brooke) and Robert Leroy Strickland (Tara); 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many extended family and friends.

Mrs. Strickland, first and foremost, loved and served her Lord and was a faithful member of Broken Bread Fellowship.

She was a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother and friend who filled her home with sunshine and goodness. Being a wonderful homemaker, she loved to cook, enjoyed family times together and crocheting. Her gentle laughter, beautiful smile and sweet spirit will be greatly missed.

A memorial service, with Pastor Curtiss Vann officiating, will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, 2016, at Broken Bread Fellowship, 908 E. Fremont St., Burgaw, N.C.

The family will be at the home of Sheila and Robert Simpson in Currie.
