Joanne Phillips, 58, of Wilmington, died at 12:50 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2016, peacefully in the care of Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter surrounded by family.
Joanne was born Sep. 14, 1957, in South Brunswick, N.J., and attended South Brunswick High School, Class of 1975. She relocated to warm and sunny Wilmington in 2006, where she worked as an office manager for the Department of Transportation in her county until her passing. Many of those close to her knew her as ‘Jo-Jo’ or ‘Chickie.’
She is survived by her husband, Tom Phillips of Wilmington; oldest son, Tom Phillips Jr. of Wilmington; only daughter, Bernadette Phillips of New York, N.Y.; youngest son, Tim Phillips of Wilmington; older sister, Debra Iammatteo of Charleston, S.C.; younger brother, John Kulesa of Eagleville, Pa.; only niece, Madison; and numerous cousins who were all very dear to her heart and spirit.
Joanne was able to spend her last days in a peaceful environment surrounded by her closest friends and family thanks to the amazing support of the nurses and doctors at the Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter.
