Lessie Mae Carney Butler, 69, of Leland, died Sunday, February 21, 2016 at her home. She was born May 14, 1946, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Slim and Aline Carney, and was preceded in death by her sister, Bobbie Benson.
Lessie graduated from New Hanover High School in 1964. She held an HVAC license, and along with her husband, Poe, she owned and operated Butler’s Heating and Air Conditioning. Her loves were the beach, fishing, gardening, line-dancing, reading and puzzles; but, most of all, her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, Poe Butler; daughters, Angie Kelly, and her husband, Jeff, Tina Wallace, and her husband, Tommy; grandchildren, Jensen and Thomas Wallace; and her beloved dog, Noel.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, at Andrews Mortuary and Crematory Market Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, February 25, at Andrews Mortuary & Crematory Market Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Oleander Memorial Gardens.
