Delma Ray Milliken, 70, of Wilmington, passed away Thursday, Jan. 28, 2016 at his home.
He was born in Wilmington on July 5, 1945 to Herbert F. Milliken, Sr. and Carolyn Newber Milliken.
Delma was a graduate of New Hanover High School and was retired from LaQue Center for Corrosion Technology at Wrightsville Beach and Newbers Refrigeration. He was a faithful servant of the Lord and a member for 42 years of College Acres Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, interim minister of music and a member of Jack Mills Sunday school class.
Delma enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, following them through baseball and cheering. He also enjoyed traveling and golf.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Delores Todd Milliken; one daughter, Heather Milliken Ayers and husband, Mike Ayers; grandchildren, Joshua Ayers (Hollie Alston), Ashton Ayers; brothers, Herbert Milliken, Jr. (Myrtle), Michael Milliken (Nancy); sister-in-law Patricia Milliken; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Pat Milliken.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 1 at College Acres Baptist Church, officiated by the Rev. Robert Keatts and Dr. Glen Bohannan. The family will receive friends following the service.
