Wanda Smith Jenkins, 88, hobbies were ‘crocheting and being the best wife, mother and homemaker’

Wanda Smith Jenkins, 88, passed away at Lower Cape Fear Hospice in Wilmington on Saturday, Jan. 23., 2016.

She was born in Hardinsburg, Kentucky and raised in Asheville before transferring to Wilmington with her husband, Morris F. Jenkins, in 1970.

Her hobbies were crocheting and being the best wife, mother and homemaker there was.

Wanda is survived by her daughter, Teri Jenkins Cartrette; granddaughter, Andrea Rhodes (Christopher); grandson, William “Jimmy” Cartrette; great-grandchildren, Briley Rhodes and Charlotte Glynn Rhodes; and her beloved brother, Ralph W. Smith, Jr. (Alene) of Asheville. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Francis Jenkins; her daughter, Kaye Francis Jenkins, who just departed Dec. 31, 2015; her brother, Harold Lester Smith; and son-in-law, Ronald Glenn Cartrette.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 29 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
