Janet M. Turner, loved traveling ‘anywhere tropical’

Janet M. Turner, of Wilmington, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 after a long hard-fought battle with cancer. She is now our guardian angel.

She was born on Jan. 20, 1944. She was the daughter of the late Robert Graham Merritt and Anna Belle Rice.

Janet was a member of Harbor United Methodist Church and also a member of a cancer support group. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always thought of others before herself. She was so loved by many. She loved traveling anywhere tropical where there were crystal-clear blue waters. Her last wish was to go to a tropical island, which her daughters granted and took her to St. Thomas. The smile on her face was priceless.

She is survived by her loving husband, William Paul Turner Sr.; her beloved son William Paul Turner Jr.; and her loving daughters Lynn Turner and Lisa Turner. She has four cherished grandchildren, Ashley Ladner, Taylor Ladner, Kayla Sykes and Josh Turner. She has two precious great-grandchildren, Isaac Farrow and Kyleigh Harrellson. She is survived by two loving brothers, Bobby Merritt and Mike Merritt.

A memorial service was held Thursday, Jan. 14 at Harbor United Methodist Church.
