Ronald ‘Ron’ Blevins, 82, U.S. Army veteran affectionately known as ‘Captain Ron’

Ronald “Ron” Blevins, 82, of Southport, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2015.

Mr. Blevins was born Sept. 9, 1933, the son of the late Conley William and Pearl Blanche Blevins. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was the founder and CEO of P&R Tank Lines in Baltimore, Maryland.

Mr. Blevins was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was involved in many local charities and volunteer organizations. He will also be remembered for driving the South Brunswick High School activity bus, affectionately known as “Captain Ron.”

Mr. Blevins was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Blevins, two brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his three sons, Gary L. Blevins and wife Karen, Dennis A. Blevins and wife Darlene, all of Maryland, and Mark E. Blevins and wife Beth of Oak Island; a sister, Delores Gresham of Georgia; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 2 at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Brian Faggert officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 1 to 2 p.m., at the church.
