David Clark Cooke died on Sunday, Dec. 13, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
He was born on April 29, 1927 the son of the late Henry Augustus Cooke and Margaret Clark Cooke. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Cooke Lee.
Mr. Cooke retired as President and CEO of Universal-Rundle Corporation after 38 years of service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
David is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Audrey Ford Cooke; son Samuel Ford Cooke and wife Karen of Mansfield, Pennsylvania; daughter Joan Cooke Sneed and husband Parker of Forestport, New York; grandchildren Cody Taylor and Stuart Lee of Wilmington and Samantha Taylor and her son Evan of Belchertown, Massachusetts; and step-grandchildren Adam York, Marty York, Kevin York, Sonya Mahoney and Aimee Gibney.
David was an alumnus of Ohio State University and was always a Buckeye supporter. He was a clarinetist and a student of history, particularly the Civil War and World War II. His favorite memories were travels with wife Audrey, visits with daughter Barbara and family, hunting trips with son Sam and football games with daughter Joan.
Funeral services will be private.
