Larry D. Hicks, 66, departed this earthly life on Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center. He had fought a long battle with kidney disease.
Larry is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rebecca “Becki” Hicks; his daughter, Jennifer Hicks Sides (Andre) of Castle Hayne; and his son, Jonathan D. Hicks of Los Angeles, California. He also leaves behind his sweet granddaughters, Hannah Hall Sides and Daisy Sides, who were the light of his life.
Larry had been retired for over four years after a long career in the grocery business, most recently with Haddon House Foods. He enjoyed watching sports on television, especially football and basketball. He was a loyal Duke fan and Carolina Panthers fan. He enjoyed playing golf in his leisure time.
Larry always had a smile for everyone and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather “Popi.”
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2015 at Wilmington Funeral Chapel. The family will see friends and neighbors starting at 6 p.m. and continue after the service.
