Doris Conaway, 81, Cape Fear Presbyterian Church instrumentally active member

Doris Conaway, of Wilmington, died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center with her family by her side. She was 81.

Born April 27, 1934, in Elizabethtown, she was the daughter of the late George Pierce Clark and Johnnie Belle Priest Clark. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eight siblings.

Doris was an instrumentally active member of Cape Fear Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Donald P. Conaway; two daughters, Donna C. White (Joel) and Dawn M. Conaway; five grandchildren, Brittani Metts (Eric), Robert White (Angela), Brianna Wheeler (Brandon), Savannah Smith and Teighlor Smith; a brother, Eugene Clark (Peggy); and numerous nieces and nephews, including an especially close niece, Linda McCall (Dennis).

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at Cape Fear Presbyterian Church, 2606 Newkirk Ave., Wilmington, NC 28412. Visitation will be held one prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in Doris’ name, to: The ALS Association Jim “Catfish” Hunter Chapter, 4 N Blount St., #200, Raleigh, NC 27601; Cape Fear Presbyterian Church, 2606 Newkirk Ave., Wilmington, NC 28412; or the charity of choice.
