Judith Gooden Jenkins, of Leland, died Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice. She was 77.
She was born July 30, 1938, in Tar Heel, the daughter of the late Neal A. Gooden and Evelyn Dowless Gooden.
A celebration of her life was held Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, at the home of her daughter, Betty Jenkins Schedler. A private interment will be held at a later date at Cross Creek Cemetery in Fayetteville, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband of 39 years, Hubert Rogers Jenkins Jr. He preceded her in death on Dec. 8, 1998.
In addition to her husband, Judy was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carrie G. Hall; and brother, James David Gooden.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jenkins Schedler (Tim); her grandchildren, William Brandon Savoca and Blair Elizabeth Savoca; and sister, Patricia Chancellor.
Judy was employed by Sears & Roebuck for 25 years until her retirement on June 1, 1998.
Memorials may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Eastern NC Chapter Wilmington Division or to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington NC 28403.
