Victor Davis Batson, of Wilmington, beloved husband of Edith G. Batson for 58 years, died unexpectedly on Oct. 21, 2015, at the age of 82.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie H. and Mae K. Batson and one brother, Linwood R. Batson.
In addition to his loving wife Edith, he is survived by his daughter, Vickie Batson; son, Keith Batson and wife Lisa; and his grandchildren, Scott Whiteted and Trevor and Carli Batson.
He was a graduate of New Hanover High School and attended Wilmington College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from International Paper. Victor’s passions included his family, golf and spending time outdoors. He was an exceptional athlete and played sports for New Hanover High, Wilmington College and the Army. He was a past member of Winter Park Optimist, coaching Little League for many years. He was a current member of Riegelwood Country Club and enjoyed many years of playing golf with “The One O’Clockers.” He loved his church family and was an active member of Freedom Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, at Oleander Memorial Gardens with Pastor Dodd Mays officiating.
