William “Billy” (Spook) A. Reynolds Jr., 86, formerly of Pinecrest Parkway in Wilmington, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was 86.
He was born July 3, 1929, in Columbia, son of the late William Reynolds Sr. and Carrie Hilda Sykes Reynolds.
Billy served in the U.S. Army and the Korean Conflict. He was a fireman with the Wilmington Fire Dept. for 13 years and later worked with Wachovia Bank, retiring in 1994. He was a member of Gibson Ave. Baptist Church. Billy was a man whose passion was music, his church, NASCAR and barbeque. He loved everything from New Orleans jazz to gospel.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Myra Reynolds; brothers, Joseph A. and Douglas G. Reynolds; and sister, Hilda S. James.
Survivors include his son, Mike Reynolds (Lee), of Wilmington; daughter, Angela “Sue” R. Atkinson (Jimmy), of Hope Mills; grandchildren, Michelle Baker, Kevin Reynolds (Ashley), Neil Reynolds, Matthew Atkinson (Bree) and Sarah A. Rodriquez (Phelan); great-grandchildren, Charleigh and Chanler Baker, Makaila Matthews, Reagan and Walker Atkinson, Carly Reynolds and Leah and Camren Rodriguez.
The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at Andrews Market Street Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
