Patrick ‘Pat’ Gerard O’Neill, 85, served 27 years with NYPD, retired

Patrick “Pat” Gerard O’Neill, of Carolina Shores, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2015, at his home surrounded by his family. He was 85.

Mr. O’Neill was born on Nov. 8, 1929, in New York City, a son of the late Charles and Margaret Connolly O’Neill.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the New York Police Department after 27 years of dedicated service.

Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Joan McCaustlin O’Neill; daughters, Cynthia O’Neill Romaniello (Frank), of Covington, Georgia, Lorin O’Neill Coakley (Ed), of Raleigh, Sallie O’Neill Darby (Scott), of Massapequa, New York, Diane Russini (Tom Donahue), of Calabash and Donna Houlihan, of Toronto, Canada; sons, Christopher Houlihan (Joan), of Ft. Mill, South Carolina and David Houlihan (Patricia), of Patchoque, New York; and grandchildren, Matthew, Stephanie, Kristen, Jonathan, Richard, Sam, Kevin, Shawn, Timothy, Ryan, Richard, Devan, Zachary, Donna, Danielle and John.

Visitation will be held from 3:30 to 5 p.m., follow by a celebration of life at 5 p.m., on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at the Brunswick Funeral Service Chapel. Inurnment will be private.
