Sheila Kay Allen, “Shi-ela Princess of Power,” died unexpectedly due to health complications on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2015, at the age of 50, while working on a Lionsgate production in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. She was 50.
Sheila was born in Wilmington on Sept. 21, 1964, where she made her home with her husband, William “Otto” Lindsey.
She is survived by her husband; parents, Betty Lou Olsen Allen and Raymond Wilson Allen and his current wife Faye Allen; daughter, Elizabeth Anne and husband Bryan Colin Hart, who are expecting their first child, Kaylee; brother, Timothy Raymond Allen; sister, Christina Lee, her husband Kevin Todd and their son Wilson Dean Carlisle; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and in-laws.
She has left many special friends all over this country and around the world who were like family to her. Friends quoted Sheila as being wickedly funny, having equal parts love, grace, intellect, sarcasm, cynicism and wonder. She was a feisty fire-starting provocateur on Facebook, who had mastered the use of the “F word” in a way that few had. We were lucky to have her as a friend.
Sheila graduated from New Hanover High School in 1982. Straight out of school she went to work for D.E.G., the film studio in Wilmington at the time. She had a natural gift for accounting and quickly rose to the top of her field. She was known throughout the industry as one of the best in the business and was always in demand among all the studios. To say she was well respected in her field would be an understatement.
Sheila’s desire was not to have a funeral. The family hosted a celebration of life at Sheila and Otto’s home on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, with good music and a good time in her honor.
The family also requests that no flowers be sent. Instead, donations to Sheila’s first grandchild’s college fund can be made to: FBO: Elizabeth A. Hart, The State Farm College Savings Plan, P.O. Box 173865, Denver, CO 80217-3865.
