On Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, William Linwood “Lindy” Robbins, 67, went to be with Jesus.
Lindy was born on Oct. 26, 1947, in New Hanover County, son of the late William A. Robbins and Jean Robbins Henderson.
He celebrated his life to the utmost fullness. He was continuously living life with kindness and strength beyond measures. He saw life, each day, as a gift, seeing the good in every bad situation, grateful for everything and expecting nothing in return.
Mr. Robbins served his nation proudly in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Lindy worked as an electrician at New Hanover Regional Medical Center for 20 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Brian Linwood Robbins; and sister Sandra Robbins.
Mr. Robbins leaves behind his son William Adam Robbins; daughter Latiah Smith; stepdaughter Lakara; sisters Dianne Benton, Sharon Faye Robbins and Darlene Fowler; and brother Robert Linwood Robbins. Also leaving behind are his aunt, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, many other family members and even strangers that hooked onto his high-spirited character.
We love you and the memories shared. He leaves kindness, gentleness and laughter in the memories of everyone who knew him. William will truly be missed, but we’ll see him again in heaven.
A memorial to celebrate his memory will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the home of his Uncle Tommy and Aunt Shirley Chadwick, 116 Chula Vista Drive, Wilmington.
Please leave online condolences for the family at Wilmington Funeral and Cremation.
