Dorothy Durnan “Dottie” Kyle, of St. James, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick. She was 69.
She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on April 12, 1946, daughter of the late James Durnan and Catherine Snelling Durnan. She was preceded in death by her brother, David Durnan, and aunt, Dorothy “Doss” Hines.
Dottie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport. She loved her family, grandsons, St. James friends, water aerobics, playing golf, taking long walks and especially spending time at “The Lake” in New Hampshire with their very special lake friends and family. She will be greatly missed by many.
Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Robert E. Kyle; daughter, Kristen L. Kyle, of Bridgeport, Connecticut; son, James Brian Kyle and his wife Jamie, of Monroe, Connecticut and their children, Andrew Kyle, Riley Kyle and Jake Kyle; and nieces, Jennifer Durnan, of Long Island, New York and Patricia Romoro, of Bayside, New York.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service, 1411 North Howe St., Southport. There will be a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport, with the Rev. Dr. Bryan Faggart officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the National ALS Association-Jim “Catfish” Hunter Chapter or Hospice House of Brunswick, 955 Mercy Lane, Bolivia, NC 28422.
