
Marty J. Miller, of Ocean Isle Beach, died suddenly on Jan. 23, 2015, at the age of 59.
He was born on July 31, 1955, to Carlos E. Miller and beloved mother, Joyce Graham Miller, of Ocean Isle Beach and was preceded in death by a son, Christopher Martin and a brother, Mickey Miller.
Marty retired after 38 years of service from Duke Energy (Progress Energy/Carolina Power) where he was loved by many friends and co-workers, in particular John Branch and his wife, Tracy, and Bip Proctor and his wife, Diane. He loved riding his motorcycle, collecting classic cars, traveling and NASCAR. He was lovingly known by many of his closest friends and family as “The Great Philosopher.”
Marty was married to the love of his life, Terri Coble Miller, on April 20, 2012, and they supported, enjoyed, loved and cherished each other for 12 wonderful years. He is survived by two daughters, Tamara Ormandy, her husband, Jacob and their children, Jacob and Christian, of Raleigh and Ashley Miller and son, Justin Miller; a brother, Arnold Miller and wife, Terrie, of Columbia, South Carolina and their children, Adam and Catherine and Jayme Miller, of Walterboro; and brothers-in-law, Patrick Coble, of High Point and Tim Coble and his wife, Nancy, of Martinsville, Virginia and their children, Ben, Josh and Leigh Anne.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, at White Funeral and Cremation Service, 3660 Express Drive, Shallotte. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at the funeral home.
