Rita Lenora Shaw, of Rocky Point, died Nov. 8, 2014, at the age of 57.
She was born April 16, 1957, in Winston-Salem, the daughter of the late June Garland Shaw Brittian.
Rita leaves her loving family to cherish her memory: her sons, Robby Owens and his wife, Silvia and Riley Cameron; brother, David Shaw; several nephews and nieces, including Melissa Jordan who was like a daughter; and many great-nieces, nephews and friends.
Rita loved the Lord and attended Broken Bread Fellowship. Most important in her life was her family, who she dearly loved. Her sons, Robby and Riley, were the loves of life. “The neighborhood mom” always welcomed the youth who frequently gathered at her home.
Rita loved all of God’s creations, especially the ocean at area beaches. Rita loved with all of her heart and her radiant smile brightened the life of everyone she knew. Her joy in life, her laughter, her compassion, her caring and her faith in Jesus Christ will be remembered and treasured.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 14, 2014, at Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home, Burgaw. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at Broken Bread Fellowship, 908 E. Fremont St., Burgaw with Pastor Curtiss Vann officiating. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
