Edward Joseph Dombrowski, Sr., 82, retiring in Wrightsville Beach

Life began in Philadelphia for Edward Joseph Dombrowski, Sr., where he graduated from Philadelphia Textile Institute in 1959. He worked as a dye hour manager there before moving to Asheboro in 1973.

In Asheboro he started Champagne Dye Works and was president until his retirement in 2001. He moved to Wrightsville Beach in 2003 and he enjoyed fishing, playing golf and spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Dombrowski was on the board of directors of Station One for 20 years.

Mr. Dombrowski died on Oct. 1, 2013, at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Dombrowski and Adele Figlerski Dombrowski; five brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary T. Dombrowski; daughters, Maureen Robbins of Randleman and Joanne Morris (Jimmy) of Delco; sons, Eddie Dombrowski (Maria) of Asheboro and Michael “Brock” Dombrowski of Wilmington; grandchildren, Heather Johnson (T.J.) of High Point, E.J. Dombrowski, III of Raleigh, John Dombrowski and Cecilia Dombrowski, both of Asheboro; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Mr. Dombrowski were held on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at St. Therese Catholic Church with the Rev. Doug Lawson officiating. Interment followed at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family wishes to extend a “special thanks” to Robin and Beth at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center and to Joanne Morris and Michael Dombrowski for their compassionate and loving care.
