WILMINGTON — Wawa is going to be opening up its third store location in New Hanover County on September 17, with a grand opening scheduled for the early morning.
The new location is at 9010 Senca Drive in Wilmington, and grand opening “festivities” will start at 7:55 a.m. with a countdown from General Manager Kate Reeder, who will open the doors at 8 a.m. The first 250 customers will receive a free t-shirt while supplies last and free, any size hot coffee through Sept. 20.
Immediately following the opening, customers are invited to participate in a ceremony to celebrate the new store and the Wawa team. Activities and entertainment will include Wawa’s “Parade of the Ages,” which highlights the company’s milestones, its “Hoagies for Heroes” hoagie-building competition between teams of local first responders, music, Wally Goose the Wawa mascot and confetti.
Over the next 8 to 10 years, Wawa plans to build and open six or eight stores per year in North Carolina for a total of 90 stores statewide.
