WILMINGTON — Two-time NBA champion, bestselling author and reality television personality Lamar Odom will be a featured guest at Coastal Horizon’s Annual Fundraising Luncheon.
The event will take place September 30 at the Wilmington Convention Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Odom will sit down with WECT anchor and managing editor Frances Weller to talk about Odom’s professional success, personal loss, substance use, his near-fatal medical crisis and his recovery.
Odom played in the NBA for 14 years after being drafted in 1999. He played seven seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, where Odom helped them win back-to-back championships in 2009 and 2010. He was named NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 2011.
He is also widely known for his reality television show starring himself and former wife, Khloé Kardashian in “Khloé & Lamar,” and he most recently was in a documentary which was released in March 2026 called “Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom.” It details his rise to fame, the private struggles and pressures behind his public image and his 2015 medical crisis.
“Lamar Odom’s story is a powerful reminder that recovery is not linear,” Coastal Horizons President and CEO Margaret Weller-Stargell said. “His willingness to speak openly about loss, substance use, survival and the continuing work of recovery reflects the hope and second chances that are central to our mission.”
Sponsors and patrons will be invited to an exclusive meet and greet and photo opportunity with Odom from 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. before the luncheon.
Early-bird individual tickets are $125 through September 6. Beginning September 7, individual tickets will be $150. Sponsorships, reserved tables and patron opportunities are also available.
Proceeds from the luncheon will support Coastal Horizons’ work to provide professional services that promote healthier lives, stronger families and safer communities.
