As part of the investigation, a mechanical engineer tested all liquefied petroleum (LP) gas tank regulators and lines connected to the property. All were found to be operating properly, and LP gas has been ruled out as the cause of the explosion, according to a Friday release from the Town of Leland.

Work to dismantle and examine the impacted structure as part of the ongoing effort to determine the cause and origin of the explosion wrapped Friday morning. Investigators have processed the scene and sent evidence to labs for testing and analysis. Results are expected to take several weeks.

The property has now been turned over to the property management company in Magnolia Greens. Homes directly impacted by the explosion remain unsafe to enter and will stay fenced off until further notice.

According to the release, Leland remains in close coordination with partner agencies and private investigators as the evidence review continues. Updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
