Annual River to Sea Bike Ride open for registration

WILMINGTON — Registration is now open for the 33rd Annual River to Sea Bike Ride.

The 20-mile bike ride, taking place May 6 runs along the historic route of the Wilmington Beach Car Line. There is no cost to participate but each individual but register individually.

Register is limited to 450 participants and will close on May 5 at 1 p.m. Same day registration, space pending, will have a $5 charge and exact change is required.

T-shirts are available for $25 until April 21 at noon. A limited number of shirts and stickers will be available for sale on the day of the ride.

The ride, hosted by Wilmington Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Go Coast committee, is open to all ages and experience levels. Riders must be able to ride 20 miles at a casual pace. Helmets are required and cyclists should give their bikes a safety inspection prior to the event.

Check in is at 6:15 a.m. to 7 a.m. at the intersection of Princess and Seconds streets in downtown Wilmington. Bikers will leave at 7 a.m. sharp and arrive at Wrightsville Beach Park around 8:15 a.m. There will be a 15- to 20-minute break at the park before beginning the second half of the ride back downtown.
