WILMINGTON — Parties interested in learning more about the construction industry needs can attend a career fair hosted mid-month at the area community college.

According to the Association of Builders and Contractors, there is a national workforce shortage of roughly 550,000 to meet the demand for labor needs in 2023.

Slated to take place Wednesday, March 15, 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., the construction industry career fair will be underway at Cape Fear Community College’s North Campus at 4500 Blue Clay Road in Castle Hayne. Current students and the public are welcome to explore options available and connect with potential employers.

It’s free to attend and participants should dress professionally, resumes in hand. More than 40 local trade companies and hiring managers will be available to answer questions and recruit interested applicants in full-time and part-time work, as well as internship opportunities.

Representatives from CFCC’s Construction Industry Programs will be there, too, showcasing educational and training programs. These programs include Construction Management, HVAC, Plumbing, Engineering, Landscaping, Interior Design, Architectural Technology, and Welding.
