Missing person case ends in murder charge

WILMINGTON — Law enforcement have a suspect in custody after determining a missing 27-year-old in Wilmington has died.

According to the Wilmington Police Department, KC Lee Johnson, reported missing on Saturday, Jan. 14, was killed in the 1300 block of King St.

Myrtle Beach Police Department has 26-year-old William Haven Hicks of South Carolina in custody without bond. He is being charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping.

Johnson was last seen Friday, Jan. 13, in the 1900 Block of Tradd Ct. She met Hicks recently on social media, a release from WPD indicates. 

“The Wilmington Police Department sends our condolences to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time,” the police noted in a statement.
