WILMINGTON — The last of four defendants accused of torturing and robbing a man at a local motel last year pled guilty last week.
Alvin Sabatell, 28, will serve 67 and 93 months in prison for his role in an incident at the Travel Inn on Market Street on March 27 and 28 last year.
Sabatell is one of four who were charged after a victim was found beaten at the McDonald’s location at 4301 Market Street on March 28. He had been lured to the inn, held at knifepoint, stripped, tied up and assaulted with lighters, cigarettes, a tow rope, a belt and other weapons for hours.
The claimed the group threatened to kill him and accused him of sexually assaulting one of the women involved. which he denies.
Kimberly Martinez, Kayla Floyd and Richard Blanton already plead guilty in the incident and are serving prison sentences.
The group also stole money, a watch and the victim’s truck.
