
NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Individuals residing in New Hanover County can partake in local government as part of a number of boards and committees.
Applications can be picked up at the Board of Commissioners Office, located in the New Hanover County Government Center at 230 Government Center Drive Suite 175. Paperwork can also be found online or received by calling 910-798-7149.
All submissions must be received by Feb. 3 for consideration at the Feb. 20 commissioners meeting.
The following boards and committees have vacant seats:
- New Hanover County Industrial Facilities and Pollution Control Authority: 6-year term
- New Hanover County Non-County Agency Funding Committee: 3-year term, specifically looking for someone fitting the cultural/recreation category
- New Hanover County Special Board of Equalization & Review: 1-year term, $50 for half-day meetings and $100 for full-day meetings; searching for individuals in the following categories — North Carolina licensed property appraiser; attorney, accountant or other professional; business owner; individual engaged in the commercial production of agricultural, livestock, timber or horticulture products or a North Carolina licensed real estate broker; single-family residential property owner
- New Hanover County Tourism Development Authority: 3-year term; seeking a Kure Beach hotel owner or manager
- Parks Conservancy of New Hanover County, Inc. Board of Directors: 3-year term
- Wilmington-New Hanover Port, Waterway and Beach Commission: 3-year term, seeking individuals from the NC Beach and Waterway Association, environmental concerns and terminals and industry
