Man dies after being struck by vehicle

WILMINGTON — A 45-year-old male has passed away from life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Market Street Thursday evening.

The incident took place in the 3100 block of Market near the Montgomery Drive intersection. The Wilmington Police Department responded to the vehicle vs. pedestrian call around 6:30 p.m., according to a release.

The victim was transported to Novant Health-NHRMC by EMS and died while at the hospital.

“We send our condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time,” the WPD release noted.

The man’s name has yet to be revealed; the investigation is ongoing.
