PENDER COUNTY — The Pender County Humane Society will launch its 2022 “A Season for Thanksgiving” on Nov. 29.
The animal shelter in Burgaw is asking the public for donations to continue providing homes and medical care to its dogs and cats. PCHS’s goal is $9,000.
Donations will cover the no-kill shelter’s vetrinary bills, food, supplies, utilities, transportation and insurance. The shelter relies primarily on donations for operation, as it does not receive government funding.
A message on the the donation drive states: “The past several years have been very difficult for fundraising due to COVID-19 restrictions on in-person events over a long time period, and the Shelter needs donations to continue operation.”
Those wishing to donate can set up a lump sum or recurring payments through PCHS’s website.
