Area municipalities, utilities close for Thanksgiving

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — As the feasting holiday draws near, local governments and public utilities are planning closures as employees plan to celebrate with friends and family. Here’s what to expect:

Nov. 24-25: City of Wilmington

Thursday trash and recycling routes will be collected Wednesday, Nov. 23; carts should be read for 6 a.m. Friday customers will not be affected.

Nov. 24: Cape Fear Public Utility Authority

The centers at 235 Government Center Drive and 305 Chestnut St. will reopen for regular business at 8 a.m., Monday, Nov. 28. The Interactive Voice-Response system will remain open at 910-332-6550 and accounts can be accessed online at www.CFPUA.org.

Nov. 24-25: Town of Belville

The town will be closed for the holiday and reopen Monday, Nov. 28.

Nov. 22-25: Pender County

Pender County government offices will close Nov. 23-25 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Offices will reopen Monday, Nov. 28. Pender County Convenience Centers and the Hampstead Transfer Station will close Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24, but will reopen Friday. 

Nov. 24-25: Brunswick County

Brunswick County government offices will close Nov. 24-25 in observance of Thanksgiving. Offices will reopen Monday, Nov. 28.
