NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A Wilmington man pled guilty to second-degree sex offense of a child.
On Tuesday, Hon. Judge Phyllis Gorham sentenced James Branch to 132 to 168 months in the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. Branch, 60, pled guilty to two counts of taking indecent liberties with children in New Hanover County Superior Court.
He was found guilty of sexually abusing a teenager 20 years ago and of taking indecent liberties with another child six years ago. Both victims only recently disclosed the abuse to the New Hanover County Sheriff earlier this year.
When Branch is released from prison, he will have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
