No injuries reported in Northchase house fire

NEW HANOVER COUNTY — Area firefighters responded to calls of a structure fire Wednesday evening.

Around 7 p.m., a 911 call was received reporting an explosion had been heard and there was a house on fire in Northchase. The residence on Monticello Court had flames emitting from the rear when the New Hanover County Fire Department arrived.

The family living in the home, as well as their pets, were able to evacuate safely. There were no reported injuries.

New Hanover County Fire Rescue, Wilmington Fire Department, New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office and New Hanover Regional EMS assisted on the scene. Red Cross also arrived to offer services to the impacted residents.

The New Hanover County Fire Marshal has determined the cause of the fire as acidental.
