The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, Brunswick County Health Services, and Coastal Horizons are joining forces to host a medication take back event on Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Town Creek Park in support of Operation Medicine Drop.
The county is observing the Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
The county notes drugs, when improperly disposed of, may find their way into the wrong hands or its water system.
Since 2010, Operation Medicine Drop (OMD) has collected more than 266 million pills and supported over 4,332 pill-take-back events across North Carolina. ople a die by overdose every day in North Carolina, and 79% of those deaths are tied to the same type of opoioid.
