SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — A regional health provider geared toward substance use, mental health and developmental disabilities services is launching a new board and seeking varied backgrounds to join.
Trillium Health Resources, leading care manager in 28 counties across the state, established the Health Equity Council to provide input related to health awareness, literacy, equity and identification of health disparities.
Applicants from across Trillium’s communities are encouraged to apply to participate. The board is especially seeking individuals of color, those who identify as LGBTQ, Spanish-speaking individuals, residents of rural areas and people who have struggled with accessing transportation, stable housing or fresh food options.
The goal of the Health Equity Council is to understand healthcare needs by focusing on three core principles: people, place, and partnership.
Members of the council will establish strategies for engagement with historically marginalized communities, identify improvements to messaging and outreach, recommend new initiatives to mitigate health disparities and address unmet health-related needs.
Those interested in serving on the council, can apply online. Trillium staff will review applications and choose candidates in November. The first meeting will be held in January 2023.
