Multiple all-way stops to be installed in Brunswick County next month

BRUNSWICK COUNTY — The North Carolina Department of Transportation announced on Thursday the location and date that three Brunswick County intersections will become all-way stops.

The intersection of Stanley Road at Grove Road will become all-way on Oct 3, Gilbert Road at Benton Road will shift on Oct. 17, and Stone Chimney (Old Ferry Connection) at Stanley Road will shift on Oct. 31.

According to NCDOT, each location was reviewed and determined an all-way stop would create a safer traffic pattern and reduce the risk of crashes. The department is encouraging drivers to be alert for crews working and prepare for the new traffic designs.

Drivers approaching an all-way stop are to allow the first vehicle arriving the right-of -way. When two or more pull into an intersection simultaneously, the driver to the right will proceed first.
