WILMINGTON — The popular Mannheim Steamroller is bringing their electric light show and neoclassical new-age music to the Wilson Center for its annual holiday spectacular. Due to popular demand, a second performance has been added.
A 3:30 p.m. matinee performance will take place Nov. 28; the 7 p.m. show went on sale at the end of July and sold out. Tickets to the matinee open to the public Friday, Sept. 2, 10 a.m., with expectations of it, too, being a full-capacity event.
The founder and creator, Chip Davis, has more than three decades under his belt leading the 22-member band. The Christmas show is the longest-running tour in entertainment industry and the band has sold 28 million albums in the U.S. alone. Davis will direct and co-produce the performances with MagicSpace Entertainment.
“I remember when I came out with my first Christmas album in 1984, followed by our first tour,” Davis said in a press release. “Back then, many in the music industry said focusing on Christmas just wouldn’t work. We are still going strong.”
Tickets can be purchased here or by calling the box office at 910-362-7999, or visiting in-person at 703 N. 3rd St. Monday through Friday 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
