WILMINGTON —Over $22,000 will be awarded to area students to continue their educational careers.
Cape Fear Farm Credit — part of the national Farm Credit System, a network of financial cooperatives established in 1916 to provide a dependable source of credit to farmers and rural America — gave a dozen scholarships away to students in Scotland, Robeson, Bladen, Duplin, Harnett, Brunswick, and Sampson counties. According to a release, students had to be connected to an agricultural operation in a county served by Cape Fear Farm Credit to qualify.
“Additional scholarships support academic excellence, community involvement and leadership for students committed to southeastern North Carolina agriculture and rural communities include N.C. 4-H, N.C. FFA, AgYouth Leadership, and diversity,” the release added.
Cape Fear Farm Credit awarded five different scholarships, including a College At-Large Scholarship, FFA & 4-H Scholarship, High School At-Large Scholarship, Diversity Scholarship, and AgYouth Leadership Scholarship.
