NEW HANOVER COUNTY — A counterfeit pill investigation by the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office has resulted in one arrest and over 1,000 laced pills off the streets.
Scott Kenneth Aubrey has been arrested and is being held under a $10.2 million bond.
The sheriff’s vice and narcotic unit concluded a three-month investigation into selling and distribution of counterfeit pills, being sold as “pharmaceutical grade,” according to the sheriffs office.
On May 17, officers stopped Aubrey and arrested him upon finding around 300 illicit pills.
The following day, May 18, officers served search warrants and discovered an additional 783 pills, steroids and U.S. currency. Over 200.0 grams (1,083) pills — most counterfeit — tested positive for fentanyl and/or heroin.
Aubrey faces multiple trafficking charges, as well as:
- 6 Counts Trafficking Opiates
- Possession of Heroin
- Possession of Xanax
- Possession of Adderall
- Possession of Suboxone
- Possession of Dextroamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
