N.C. Aquariums up for USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Award

(North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources)

SOUTHEASTERN N.C. — The North Carolina Aquariums are in the running for a USA Today’s Readers’ Choice Award.

People can vote for the best aquariums online at least once a day, North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources promoted in a press release this week.

“We’re honored to find that the North Carolina Aquariums and Jennette’s Pier are being recognized in such a way,” Maylon White, director of the North Carolina Aquariums division, said in a statement. “This is such an amazing way to acknowledge the hard work and care that every staff member and volunteer puts into what they do every day.”

A panel of travel experts selected the North Carolina Aquariums — which includes the Fort Fisher location and Jennette’s Pier in Dare County — to compete. Others in the running are The Florida Aquarium, Georgia Aquarium, Monterey Bay Aquarium and the National Aquarium in Baltimore.

The North Carolina Aquariums placed seventh in 2019 and fourth in 2020.
