WILMINGTON — Public transportation will be free on Friday, Apr. 22, in celebration of Eart Day.
Wave Transit announced it will offer free rides all day and across all services — RideMICRO, fixed route bus, and Dial-A-Ride Transportation (DART). The goal is to encourage residents to stay off the roads and utilize public transportation for the day to help reduce their carbon footprint.

“Using public transportation, even for one day, makes a positive impact on the environment by reducing the amount of carbon emissions released into the atmosphere,” a press release from Wave Transit noted.
Wave runs an all natural gas, low emissions fleet, and operates out of LEED-certified facilities.
Masks are not required, but encouraged. Wave personnel ensure that Covid-19 safety measures are still in place per sanitization of its vehicles and stations.
