Brunswick County hosts vaccine pop-up clinics

BRUNSWICK COUNTY — This week two pop-up vaccination clinics are available at Brunswick County Health Services at Town Creek Park in Winnabow for people 5 years and older. All forms of the vaccinations will be administered, including second booster shots for those who are eligible. No appointment is required.

The community building located near the front of the park at 6420 Ocean East Highway will host the vaccine pop-ups. Masks are required.

Covid-19 vaccines are free regardless of insurance and proof of insurance is not required; however, those attending should bring IDs and insurance cards if available.

The first pop-up opened Monday from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The second pop-up will occur on Monday, Apr. 11, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the same location.

Those who prefer not to enter the building or have mobility issues have the option to receive any vaccination from their vehicles by the clinic staff as well.

All three vaccines — Pfizer-BioNTech, Modern and J&J — will be available at these clinics. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is the only one available for those 5-17 years of age.

Written permission is required by a parent or legal guardian to vaccinate those 5-15 years old and administer booster shots to those 12-17 years old. A consent form must be completed if someone other than a parent or legal guardian brings the child. Consent forms can be downloaded and completed here.

Most people are eligible for the CDC’s new recommendation of receiving Moderna & Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines to prevent severe infection from Covid-19. Those who prefer to receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine are still able to do so, as well as those who cannot receive an mRNA vaccine. The CDC recommends to be vaccinated regardless of the vaccine chosen instead of no vaccination at all.

There are still open appointments available for those five and older at the Brunswick County Health Services main clinic in Bolivia. Appointments can be made online or by calling the Public Health Call Line at (910) 253-2339 from Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. –5 p.m.

More information regarding Covid-19 vaccines and the pop-up clinic can be found at brunswickcountync.gov/vaccines.
