Saturday shooting on Red Cross Street leaves one injured

WILMINGTON — A person was shot mid-day Saturday in the 600 block of Red Cross Street, according to Wilmington Police Department.

WPD is investigating after responding to the approximately 1:30 p.m. ShotSpotter notification, the city’s gunshot detection system. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering a non-life-threatening wound.

An EMS took the victim to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. The patient is in stable condition as of Saturday afternoon, WPD reoprted.

“Anyone with information is asked to please contact the Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3609 or send a message to 847411 using the keyword WPDNC. The public can also use the Tip 411 app,” WPD said in a statement.
