Kiwanis Club opens scholarships for Dixon High seniors

TOPSAIL BEACH — The Kiwanis Club of Topsail Island Area is now accepting applications for one-time $3,000 scholarships.

Eligible applicants — Dixon High seniors, home-schooled high school seniors assigned to Dixon High School, and Key Club members who are graduating seniors — can submit online or at the counseling center of Dixon High School.

Awards are based on several criteria: having at least a 3.0 grade point average, active participation and leadership demonstrated in the community during a student’s high school career. Also included is an essay submission, which accounts for more than half of the award scoring.

Students planning on attending a four-year college/university, community college, or trade school are encouraged to apply. All winners will be recognized and awarded scholarships during a May reception. Applications should be submitted no later than Apr. 8 at 3 p.m.

More information can be found by visiting the Kiwanis Club of Topsail Island Area website.
