BRUNSWICK COUNTY — State and federal funds are available for qualifying families that need financial assistance for childcare. Brunswick County Social Services is accepting applications for the North Carolina Child Care Subsidy Program.

There is no waiting list and eligible people must be employed, enrolled in school or a job training program, have a child with developmental needs, need child protective services or care to support child welfare services. Families in crisis can also apply.

Financial criteria can be accessed here.

“The amount of child care assistance provided depends on the family’s situational criteria, income, and cost of provider,” according to a release from Brunswick County.

Each county in North Carolina receives limited funds to help residents subsidize child care services. Once depleted, a waiting list starts.

An application and an interview process must be completed to receive assistance. Applications can be downloaded online at brunswickcountync.gov/childcaresubsidy.

Interested residents can also pick up an application at the Brunswick County Social Services Building, 60 Government Center Dr., in Bolivia, or call 910-253-2144 or 910-253-2086 to request an application.
